Suicide Prevention

Our efforts have been rewarded…

In September 2009, the Foundation, in conjunction with the Guidance Clinic of the Middle Keys, set up a Suicide Prevention Program.  The Foundation funded for a “RED HOTLINE” telephone with a dedicated phone # to be set up at the Guidance Clinic .  This phone is answered/monitored 24/7.  If someone needs help, all they have to do is call the dedicated phone #, which has been published in ads, flyers, cards, etc., and if needed, the Guidance Clinic arranges for transportation to pick them up (usually a taxi).  The phone bill for the hotline and any transportation fees are paid for by the Foundation.

We have also had ongoing Suicide Prevention Ads running weekly in the major papers Keys-wide since September 2009 and will continue to run them for as long as it is possible.

These numbers were right on target of the 3 per month that were projected.
